The Sunforce 5 Watt Trickle Charger Twin Pack includes 2 units of the 5 Watt solar battery trickle charger. Each unit is the ideal solution for maintaining 12 Volt batteries for your cars, RVs, tractors, ATVs, electric fences, deer feeders, boats, and more. Just plug these devices into your vehicle’s 12 Volt lighter socket and position the panels to pick up the most daylight possible. Or, if you prefer, use the included alligator clips to connect them directly to the battery, so you can keep your lighter socket open for cell phone chargers or other accessories. Regardless of how you hook up the battery chargers, you’ll never get caught off guard without the juice you need to start your car. Made of durable ABS plastic and amorphous solar cells, these units are completely weatherproof, charge in all daylight conditions and have an integrated blocking diode that protects against battery discharge at night. Each panel includes 4 pre-cut holes for easy installation, as well as battery clamps, a CLA adapter, and 10 feet of wire. With a maximum temperature range of -40 to 176-degrees Fahrenheit, each panel measures 14 x 0.75 x 13 inches (WxHxD) and weighs 4 pounds.

Convenient charging on the go
Convenient Power That Helps Keep Your Batteries Charged

This Sunforce solar charger lets you harness the power of the sun, the most powerful and plentiful source of energy available to us. Unlike nuclear and fossil fuels, solar power is clean and pollution-free, and the equipment requires very little maintenance to operate.

Sunforce Solar Panels are effective in areas of both high and lower sun exposure, making them ideal for use in the United States

This trickle charger is designed to stave off the natural voltage drain that 12-Volt batteries undergo over time. It can also maintain the charge of a 12-Volt battery while it is providing energy to small electronics like cell phone chargers or small pumps and motors. The Sunforce 50022 5-Watt Solar Battery Trickle Charger is constructed with durable ABS plastic and features amorphous solar cells and an ultra-bright blue LED charging indicator. Four mounting holes are pre-cut in the frame for easy permanent installation. It is weatherproof and remains effective even on cloudy days. The built-in overcharge/discharge protection prevents overcharging and reverse-current drain. This trickle charger is an ideal choice for automobiles, recreational vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, tractors, boats and more.

About Amorphous Solar Power

Solar panels convert sunlight into an electric current, they do not store power. Amorphous solar panels are created by spraying silicon onto glass in very thin layers, and are commonly known as thin film solar panels. This process allows them to be better at generating electricity in all lighting conditions, including cloudy or shady environments. They have a maximum operating temperature range of -40 to 176-degrees Fahrenheit, requiring virtually no maintenance. They can even withstand impacts from one-inch hailstones at 50 miles-per-hour.

Amorphous solar cells work in all daylight conditions–even on cloudy days. These solar panels are completely weatherproof, and can be used indoors or outdoors.

Amorphous Silicon key points:

  • Lightweight, portable, and shade tolerant
  • For entry to solar or hands on solar
  • Best for smaller output needs, temporary set ups, and areas that do not receive predictable sun conditions

I put them on top of my trailer I purchased these solar trickle chargers all winter. I park my trailer at the storage facility for the winter. My batteries always drain down to nothing. I got these so try and see if I could keep my batteries from draining down to nothing. I built a small little angled mount for them using wood so I could remove it when I was not using them. I put the unit on the roof and made sure my batteries were fully changed first. I left the solar panels on the top of the trailer. I checked the trailer twice a month I checked the trailer and the batteies stayed charged up all winter. Good little units. Will not charge your battey it will maintain a charge.

Performs Exactly as Expected Since I have several ancillary devices connected to the car’s (2007 Ford Taurus) electrical system, there is always a trickle load on the battery. There is a ham radio that uses backup power when off, a GPS that trickle charges even when fully charged, and a GPS receiver that runs 100% of the time. The load is not a lot, but I wouldn’t leave this stuff connected for a week without driving the car. These devices do load the battery enough that on long cold winter nights, the battery starts drooping significantly. For this reason, I looked at the charger panel(s), and after reading the reviews decided they would work perfectly in minimizing the impact of all these extra devices sitting in standby all afternoon and overnight. The combination of using the panel all day while inside at work, and from 4 p.m. throughout the night has worked out very well.I’m only using one panel, the other is for a gift.A few notes to clear up some confusion that I noted while reading…
